Laser damage

I'm going to throw a Hail Mary here - is there any way to repair the damage that's created by a laser? I was shooting a band with a light show, and one of the lasers hit at the wrong time. Now, every image that I take with my GH5 shows a small vertical line.

I believe that your camera is salvageable, but that you'll have to get the sensor replaced. It shouldn't be as expensive as replacing the whole thing, though.

Yeah, that's probably not something that you can fix yourself. I'd send it in and see what they can do. You can always get a couple of estimates first if you're worried about the cost.

Could it be the lens? I don't know because I never have had an experience with a laser. It should be a cheap fix though.

I mailed it off to get fixed, and the guys aren't sure yet whether it's just damage to the lens or whether the sensor needs to be replaced. I'm just thankful that it's fixable.

Chances are pretty good that it's the sensor that got damaged. I can't imagine a laser leaving a physical scar, but I can imagine it damaging the electronic components.

It depends on the extent of the damage. It took Sony 12 years since the issue was first brought up, but they finally officially announced it's a problem.
